Poetry Week: Woodlands!

Our lovely students have been so excited to be back at school and have launched into learning. Our theme for this half term is plants, and this week we have been examining seeds. It’s also a great week to be back because… it’s Poetry Week! Check out some of our work around poetry…

For poetry week the Willow class children listened, took part and acted out the ‘brown little seeds’ poem every morning. We ‘sprinkled’ the rain and ‘twinkled’ like rainbows before stretching high and turning our faces towards the sun! At the end of the week we used props to act out the poem before turning it into our own Willow class video poem!

Oak class have been focusing on the story of Jack and the Beanstalk this week. We all loved when the giant came out and noticed that what he said rhymed! We chose this as a short poem to learn and incorporated drama to change our voices and become the giant! We filmed a short video as a class. We also wrote a poem about our senses, imagining we traveled to the beach! We made our own small beach in a tub and used salt water. We tasted the salt water and felt the shells and sand for inspiration about our poem!
