The Mayor Of London visits Netley!

We had a wonderful start to our morning. How often does the Mayor of London visit a school? Well we had Sadiq Khan come to Netley and he visited our class! It was all very exciting because we got to meet the Mayor, talk to him and take photos—and all because we live in the Ultra Low Emission Zone and we are taking part in the CHILL study.

The CHILL study is a research of children in London and Luton to check the effects of air quality on their lung growth. The mayor participated in some of our activities and asked us what our monitors are for? We told him it was to check how active we are . He asked us if Netley was a nice school and we said it was the best school in the world! He also asked us who do we want to be.

Some of us said we wanted to be doctors, teachers, scientists and mayor one day! We had important people come and the media was there too. We did not expect such a huge team of
people. But its an important project that the mayor is doing; it is about reducing air pollution. We had to do pledges and we said we need plant more plants and try and walk, cycle or use shared vehicles to get around.

Watch us on the news– we are famous!
